You could mix the water in the tank if you want to. Not the perferrd method though.

you dont know what the lfs is using. if you are sure its clean rodi that uses a good brand of salt, then go ahead, it would be a lot easier that way.

It isn't perferred because it could take a long time for the salt that lands on the sand to actually disolve which in time would raise your salinity without you knowing it. I do it it this way though when setting up new tanks. I would use all the water out of your 30 gallon and put all your live rock in there, then just new water to fill it the rest of the way up. You will a better chance of just having no cycle by doing this.

I believe it. When I put my stand together, I had a friend coming by after work to help me put the tank on the stand. I couldn't wait and did it by myself. Not smart but I didn't hurt myself.

    The tank looks awesome. Congrats!

Fill the tank almost full with rodi water, then put the amount of salt you'll need for 66 gallons in a five gallon bucket and mix it I there. It will make a super salty concentrate so that when you ad it to the tank it spreads out.

And listen, this is probably one of the most important things... And auto top off!!!!! Get a jbj ATo!!!!! Please! It would be insane keeping up with a 66 gallon tanks top off.

You can always ask the LFS what they are using as far as water and salt. I just use IO in my tank with no problmes. Honestly, IO is one of the higheast rated salts on the market right now according to a recent study I read.

Don't add enough salt for 66 gallons because you are not going to have 66 gallons of water in your systwm once you add sand and live rock. That is why I suggest to use the water out of your 30 gallon set up, and then top off with new water.

Oh so add sand, rock, fish and corals with the 30g water, then just add new saltwater? Sounds good!

I would have the fish in a 5 gallon bucket during the transfer honestly. I would add the fish last after all the water is in the tank and the filters and pumps are going.
