Yup thats what well be doing! So, the tank will be half full, and then well be adding the water we make i guess...haha this sucks. My refractometer is stupid, so how do i know my reading?! Also, how do you use the hose to pump the water in?

We will be using all new sand i think. Where do we put the media from AC70 in this new tank? The back right, but will it instantly cycle?

Alright that sounds good. Anyone think i should just drop the media in the filter? I think we are getting new sand, cheap pool filter sand. This way we wont have spikes like people have told me about!

All new sand? Idk, you'd lose most of your bacteria.

I would say that you will have a min cycle probably, nothing serious. Iw ould buy just a regular hydrometer to test your salinity

This is how I would do it.

    1. Move inhabitants into a 5g bucket with heater

    2. Put rock and sad in the new tank with the water

    3. Add new saltwater until its full

    4. Start the filter, add your old media and get the temp where you want it

    5. Drip acclimate corals and fish to new tank

    6. Add a bottle of dr. Tim's one and only to prevent a cycle

    7. Done:)

Sand holds like 60% if not more of your bacteria.

I would have your Lfs calibrate your refractometer o make sure it works.

Ok, i like the steps above! We will have to add more sand regardless to fill. What does dr tims do??

ALSO, should we creat a DSB of 5"? Maybe get a jawfish?

Another thing about using your water from the 30 is that it is already at temp, so it wont take as long to heat the additional water up. For a DSB, I would go with 4 - 6" deep on average. Dr. TIM'S is all the live bacteria you need to process your bioload. It is supposed to instantly cycle a tank.
