    You shouldn't really have any issues then using this sand. I would put the new sand in first then put the old sand on top of that. That is what I did, and I didn't have any issues when I moved my 16 gallon over to my 40 gallon. I don't really think it will matter how you add the sand though.

    Then set it up lol. Peer pressure can be hard to deal with lol. You could go to your LFS and pick up some BioSpira to cycle your tank with as well instead of Dr.Tims.
