I just wanted to post what I use for my RO water. keep in mind this is only RO production and not DI ( it can be added on I just havent yet ).

GE Merlin Tankless Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Filter System in Canada

my TDS meter consistently reads around 2-3.

I added an inline hot/cold mixing valve prior to the unit to bring the inlet temperature up to 25/26 degrees celcius ( recommended for best membrane performance). the added benefit is that I dont have to heat my makeup SW as its almost at temperature when it leaves the RO unit.

so anyway, I can fill my 40Gallon makeup tub in just a little over an hour.

I also filled my new 220gallon tank last weekend in 8 hours.

    these are really amazing units.

filter looks great and would be very nice to have something like this. what do you do for the DI portion? can you just add it to the GE filter or just not use one?
    thanks for the info.

Are you on a well or municipal source?

im not sure if you could put a DI filter right into the actual sump canister?

you can add a DI cannister to the output line though but your GPD would decrease. I havent added DI yet as my TDS readings have been 2-3 which is pretty good.

I am on a municiple service.

Bought a second one of these and installed it under my kitchen sink for our drinking water with a T off of it to feed my fridge ice machine.

They are a pretty good RO only if you have fairly low TDS or good water quality to begin with. They are a 90% rejection device so will pass 10% of your tap water TDS through in the treated water. In my case with a tap TDS of 500 to 1200 and averaging around 800 it would not be cost effective since DI would eat me alive if I were sending a TDS of 80 to it.

you might want to give one a try.

my tap water is 250-375 on average and my RO Product water is consistenly 2, sometimes 3. thats about 99% from the membrane

I've been running this one for almost 2 years now on the original membranes.

at 800 you will only feed 8-10 to DI

the key to these units is to run them at optimal conditions ( 80 PSI inlet and 78F ) this will give you the maximum rejection and highest GPD.

I have not seen another one that efficient. Even their own test data reports 89+% removal efficieny for TDS. Most people do not see water pressures above 50-55 psi and water temperatures are rarely 77 degrees in most locales, here in Phoenix with treated lake water it gets as low as 58 degrees F in the summer months.
My money was spent on a 100+ GPD pumped system which includes DI and runs at 1:2 waste ratio or only 1 gallon of waste for every two gallons of treated water. Higher than normal capacity and ultra low waste. If I needed more production I could get the same system up to 400 GPD and still have low waste.

didnt want to spark a RO efficiency debate in anyway :) simply wanted to let folks know that there is an extremely good tankless RO unit that gives high volumes and extremely low TDS when setup and tuned properly and for 350.00 ( for the US people ).

as for waste water, this sytem as could any I suppose, can be converted to zero waste by simply piping your waste line back into your hot water leg of your home water line. zero waste technology has been around for awhile now.

my point simply is that this unit gives excellent, high volume product water at a good price. for those of us with busy schedules and large tanks that require large water changes, this setup has been a blessing for me.

I dont have to spend money on fancy top up systems and solenoids and float valves, or set timers to remember when to stop the water, i simply turn the system on once a week when I am doing my weekly maintenance and by the time I've siphoned my sump and cleaned my protein skimmer my 20 Gallons of water are ready to be mixed and put back in
because the product water I just mixed up is already at 80F and doesnt need to be heated, just mixed/aerated.
