Hey y'all, I just wanted to know your thoughts on the GE RPWF refrigerator filter. I know that sounds stupid, seeing as I'm on a reefing site, but bear with me. GE claims that this is their most advanced filter ever, and I have one in my refrigerator, so I was wondering if it could be considered an RO filter. Probably just me being cheap, but if it is, that would save me a lot of money. Thanks!

It is a carbon block filter, So it is basically the second stage in an RO/DI system. This is normally what you will find in any type of filter for refrigerators and this one may be advanced because it uses a carbon block. It is great for drinking water i am sure.

No it is a combination sediment and taste and odor filter, it does not remove TDS or dissolved contaminants in the water.

I eliminated my expensive refrigerator filters all together and hooked a RO system with pressure tank to my refrigerator as well as to a faucet at the kitchen sink and at the laundry sink so there was no need for the additional filter which I was paying through the nose for.
