What is your trick to cleaning the glass between the wall and the tank? I'm not stupid, but this is a pain and I'm wondering if there is some hidden trick out there to making this more simple. ::) lol thanks.

the back of my tank is painted black (but it has a lot of purple on it now when viewed from the front) - I never clean it inside or outside

the side walls I have enough room to get myself, never mind just my arm, between the tank and the wall or the tank and the tank next to it so to clean the outside of the tank
I use a damp cloth and paper towel

because its far enough away from the wall I can also use the algae magnet to clean inside walls

Do you mean the outside glass, or the inside glass?

As for outside, +1 for painting it. I'm new to reef keeping, but I've had freshwater tanks for years, and I have found painting to be the easiest solution.

If you prefer those laminated decorative backings, there is a product called SeaView (I think, someone will correct me if I'm wrong) which is a gel that you rub on the backing before you apply it and it gives you a tight seal between the glass and the backing. That way water is less likely to drip between the backing and the glass.

As for the inside of the glass, what kind of tank do you have? Mine is 30" tall, so I just use a long handled algae scrubber to reach the parts that the live rock doesn't cover. My tank is new, so I don't have any Coraline algae back there. Some people just leave the back wall covered in Corlaline and clean the rest of the glass.

I use a squeegee with the foam on one part, like at the gas station.
