Would it be true to say that the less you put your hands in your reef tank ( arranging this, moving that ) the healthier reef you will have ?

IMO, in general, yes. However, you can use gloves. I just purchased 100 long gloves from The Filter Guys.

I would say that is a big "it depends"....

My biggest concern in rearranging stuff is in disturbing the bacteria colonies on the live rock and such. Esspecially the anerobic bacteria that build up in the sand beds beneath the rocks.

Thus, yes, minimizing rearranging is a plus. On the other hand, if it needs rearranging to improve flow or something... do it. Once you 'get it right'.... leave it alone.

    +1, I agree with NG.
Once you get everything how you want it, leave it alone. I believe its reefmonkey that has the signature "it'll do better without you sticking your hands in it every day" or something like that. Both of these guys know what they're talking about ;)

Thanks everyone. I'm afraid I am guilty of that. Except for general maintaince ( cleaning filters, etc. ) I'll let nature take its course.
