    Not sure where to post this so here seemed good ;D. Im just starting to dive into buying a calcium reactor. My question is : Is there such a thing as to big of a reactor ? The tank is a 150G that I replacing my 75g I have for a few months. Lessons from last I want this time around to buy larger so if I upgrade Im prepared and dont waste as much money. Im looking at this reactor. CR624

    Thanks in advance

    I don't think so. I have the geo 612 rated for up to 350 gal on my 75 gal. You first have to bring your cal, and alk up to where you want it and the calcium reactor will do the rest. It will maintain your cal and alk. from there.

    I've only seen/heard of that brand once, so I dont know much about it. I can tell you that for around the same price, you cant wrong with one of the following brands;

    1. AquaC
    2. Knop
    3. Pm(Precision Marine)
    4. Korallin

    I asked about calcium reactors on 'the other forum' and Geo came up alot as a good choice. Anyone here with actual experience with Geo Calcium reactors or thoughts on the ones Luna mentions? I notice Deltec didn't make Luna's list-- just an oversight or just not worth the $$$?

    Nobody ever pays (picture) police enough for the hard work that they do.

    I live in the same town as one of Deltec's US gurus so I hear a lot about them.

    I like the RX-1. Seems I don't need a feed pump and it would fit under my tank. Anyone have experience with the RX1 ?

    Geo is the most well known and probably the best calcium reactor you can get for the money. They have also been making them for a long time, and you won't find bad reviews on their reactors.
    I have a Geo 612 good for 300g on my 90g right now, but it will be going on my 193g once that is rolling. I bought it used from a fellow reefer, and when I did my research as to whether I should buy this one, I could find only great reviews of these products.

    As far as too big or too small, you can't go wrong either way. Too big, and the media will last longer, and too small, thew media will need to be replaced much earlier.

    I have a friend that has an MRC nano Ca RX on his display with a 120g, a 75g, and a 60g sump on it. He just needs to replace the media every 3 months or so instead of 6 months intervals. Having seen the small issues on the mrc reactor, I would not buy that brand personally, but the geo is a great reactor.

    Came across this here. Im looking at the RX6. Any thoughts ? I like it has multiple chambers unlike the Geo. I also have the option of buying a Deltec PF501 Calcium Reactor with 10lb CO2 bottle and Reef-Fanatic regulator from a local reefer for $300 but it needs a new aquabee pump which I hear are crap.
