Im 16 and never had a job, but I need one to pay for all my needs (mostly aquarium stuff).

I have applied like 4 times at different places. But they never call me, Im thinking is because they want a person with experience, But how do I suppose to have experience if I never had Job...

Any TIPS so I can get a good job. Do I need a resume?

"squeaky wheel gets the grease" You have to keep fallowing up on your applications and always do it in person then they will get to know you and when time comes for a opening they will call you..

    Be aggressive.

Silly adage, competence starts with confidence. Even if its a part time gig, show your potential employers that you want the job, and your the best person for the job. Try going into the business, especially if they are advertising an open position, ask to speak with the person in charge (helps if you even make a quick phone call and ask who is in charge, and their names), introduce yourself with a quick "Hello Mr/Mrs, my name is theaquapond, and I would like to have a moment to speak with you about *insert position here*". IF you dress nice (this works, first impressions are your only chance), make eye contact, and be up front about your lack of experience but willingness to learn, you should be in. And tell them you will be dependable and willing to do whatever it takes........but then follow up with it. Start building your resume the right way. Experience is key.

I may not know much about salt water, but I'd definitely be able to help if you want to pm me for advice.

    Regards
    JR

Agreed with following up. Always call back. If they say it'll be 2 days, when you don't get a call back in 2 days, call them right then. I've found that followups are key.

Also, try to talk to people you know via family. People you know are going to be much more inclined to hire you.

It's rough out their! It took me almost 4 months to get a part time second job.

What type of work are you applying for? Are you still in school? Have you tried places like UPS and DHL? Their is a DHL close to me (in kentucky) that are hiring a ton of people.

theaquapond....IM humble experience....be confident, consistent, and the bug the living hell out of them! I once landed a job with no experience with the GOV. The key was I applied...I had a good clean and sound resume...and I was relentless. I called weekly sometimes twice a week to ask the status of my app. They eventually get tired of hearing from you and hire you. LOL
