Thanks Reef2keep. Its been slow so far but I'm having fun.

So, when to the swallows head your way? I lived in Carlsbad for a few years and remeber heading up that way to see all the swallows building nests in the side of a dirt/ mud embankment. It was quite a site.

You know, I've lived in this area for almost a decade and I can't even answer that. I guess I've never been a bird man, haha. Just like Hollywood...maybe someday I'll go up and be a tourist.

Welcome!! Get ready to spend lots of money have an arm in a tank a lot. This is a very addicting hobby but very rewarding. I have been hooked from my first 30 gallon and have upgraded twice and have two tanks running currently. Look forward to seeing your build and def. going to subscribe.

Ordered RO/DI water filter today. I think the first fill of the tank will pay pack.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You will be very happy you got the RO/DI and yes it will pay for itself.

Algae issues are very frustrating as well sometime expensive to fix.

Looks like you are moving right along congrats.

My biggest mistake in this hobby so far has been not getting an RO/DI system. I goto the LFS to get it and if they are closed or their machine is broken im kinda S.O.L. Going to get one at the first of the year though for sure.

Next purchase will be Dry Rock, Dry Sand and some Live Rock for seeding. I will let the tank cycle for a month or so and then get serious with the lighting.

Does anybody have experiance with ReefRocks.net? I am thinking of getting 100lbs of dry rock and 40 or 80lbs of dry sand from them.

Does anybody know how many lbs of dry sand is required to get 1" deep bed?
