    Hello all!

I am admittedly very excited to have found this website. I am a college student, and this semester I have found myself with a lot of free time, allowing me to get a job - what better to do with the excess cash than build a reef tank?

Years ago I had a 150 gallon tank that my parents got rid of when I went to college... very sad about that.

My new project is a 29H tank! It is actually the second tank I bought (hooray for craigslist). I naively assumed that my first tank was not tempered glass - attempting to drill it told me otherwise, leaving me with 4 panes of glass and a pile of glass confetti. Needless to say, I called the manufacturer of my new tank, and was confidently told that Perfecto has never used tempered glass in the construction of ANY of their 29 gallon tanks.

I will be drilling my tank in the upper right, rear corner when the 35mm diamond-tipped hole saw drill bit I ordered from BRS arrives. In the meantime, I have constructed a 5.5gallon berlin-esque sump. The tank is glass and the dividers are lexan. I will post updates as they happen :)

Welcome to 3reef and the hobby :) Sounds like you're starting with a good size given that you are a student. Also sounds like you've been doing your reading - definitely continue doing a lot of that!
