getting clams

    Most croceas are more purple than blue and only a select expensive few are green. Maxima is green. If you want a maxima u will prolly get it at like 3" and it will grow fast till it's maybe 6" and then slow down a little. It reaches 6" in about 2ish years

    I've seen maximas less than two inches for sale at a lfs.I've read that it's best to get one closer to three inches for a better chance of survival.Mine was about 2 and 3/4 inches when I bought it and has grown to about 4inches in a little over a year.Be advised that some of the bright coloration may only be seen when viewed from above.When looking down on mine,it is black with very bright blue stripes,but from a distance it appears to be purple.

    Keep in mind that glass thickness and type changes coloration as well. I have a gold maxima that looks almost a gray through my glass.

    oh, ok, so whats the smallest maxima out there? I am looking to blue up my tank sort of speak.

    "Maxima" is a species. There won't be a significant difference in size between two individuals.....

    Croceas and Maximas your best bet for blue. Make sure you by WYSIWYG. *wink*
