Getting First []PS

If the original poster has no stony corals already either lps or sps and does regular water changes I can't imagine why he couldn't get anything he/she wanted. Im not saying don't get the test lits just don't let em be the factor that keeps you from getting the coral you want.

There's more to the recipe for success in keeping SPS than just water changes.

 

I have gotten fish online, most sites list corals as 2-3 day shippers. I may try online, but I'd like to know I can do it before spending the cost of the coral + 3x.00 dollars on S&H.

Ok, tested levels and I got:
400ppm for calcium
196.9ppm for kh

 

Good numbers, don't let the ca drop below 380. Try not to let the KH get much higher than that.

 

I was referring to this. I know there is more to keeping sps then just levels but if he adds one sps even a decent size colony its not going to deplete calcium so fast that a weekly 5 or 10% water change wont keep up the calcium. Yes tank should ne up for a little while yes the owner should have a good maintenance regimine and such but I wouldn't be worried about the levels of mag. Calc. And alk so much just yet. I have a tank with a bunch of sps in it and I was worried about the levels and realized in a week the levels barely dropped. Not enough to even justify dosing two part. I have to up the alk a little once in a while though.
