Ok I have a 60 gallon tank I have had for about three weeks now. My parents added true clownfish and two blue damsels in last week for my Christmas gift and they looked fine. A few days later the blue damsel freaked out and ran into the tank and killled himself:angry: then the other damsel died unexpectly the next day.

So I was left with three clownfish. I just got done fighting a ICK outbreak in the tank and treated them and managed to get rid of visible signs of white spot. This morning ~ 4:00 am~ my mom woke me up and told me my clownfish were swimming on the ground and looked like they were dieing. She says it was because I raised the temperature from 72 to 75 degrees. Could this really be the problem? What should I do about my clownfish? ASAP answers would be nice.

Well, if its a new tank, it will go through whats called the cycle process and pretty much during that time anything that is put into the tank will most likely die, or not thrive well, or get ich..

Go to your LFS and get your water tested or just test it with your own test kit..

The water needs to sit and cycle for a while until you can add fish..I would get that clownfish out ASAP and return him. Becuz it sounds like your going through a cycle.

+1 when you do a cycle ammonia, or fish waste, turns into nitrites, and nitrites turn into nitrates. when you test for some nitrates in your tank and there is 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites, its safe to add fish.

My two clownfish perked up for some reason, we put ice cubes in thw water and they started playing with it. ~Was my clownfish just sleeping?~ The lights are also off incase they are stressed. My third clownfish in on the bottom of the tank leaning on a rock breathing heavy. :( What would be the best thing I can do for the little guy?

Im useing the Freshwater and Saltwater testing kit *forgot brand name*

    Nitrate NO3: 0ppm normal

    Ammonia NH3/NH4+: 0ppm normal

    Specific gravity: 1.022

High range PH: 7.8 too low? I can raise it to 8.2 with API proper ph 8.2 supplement.

    nitrite?
You should only have 2 clowns or else they will pair up and kill each other. Tank should be at 78 degrees. Also, do you have powerheads pointing at the surface?

I have a Rena filstar XP3 canister filter that has a power head feature, so yes but it is pointed horizontally like a current.

I will also take the last clownfish back to the store so he gets the best care

From what you have posted it is difficult to know your level of understanding of the whole reef/ marine keeping so I will tell you my beginner perspective of what you need to do. First thing is for now add buffer, look up all the perimeters and do what you can to get your system there and keep it there. By the way, your water is not too warm possibly just a little to low. Second, don't buy anymore fish or life at all for awhile. Damsels are very touch fish, if your system has killed them it has a problem. Third, tell your parents if they want to give you a gift make it a gift certificate and let you pick your own fish, I would suggest one at a time for the most part. Forth, test your water, test your water and test your water. And most of all buy a book and read it before doing anything else. I would suggest, an easy read, "The New Marine Aquarium: Step by step set up and stocking guide". There are many many more but this one wasn't over my head when I first started.

What filter system, light, heater etc do you have? Where is your water coming from? How often are you testing it. Send pictures if you can. A 60 gal aquarium can be a nice set up and you probably have lost of room to grow but I would suggest to learn a lot and grow slowly. It would be a great project with lots to learn.

also, I wouldn't put another ice cube in the tank...when its melts it'll be just like putting tap water into your tank(not the best idea) just let the tank be for another few weeks and let it cycle...and always remember the reef motto...."go slow, let it grow"

And you also wanna get that PH up to 8.4 with some PH buffer...
