not really sure i know what i;m doing as it comes to solf corals going to have to think on this one.

so what you are saying is think about the corals you want and then buy the light that fits the coral?
    thanks for the info.

really both of you helped me out a lot

many people start with a tank and then end up finding out the hard way, just what they cant, or should not keep in it

    a better way would be
decide what you want to keep and then work out what tank and accesories you need to accomodate what you want to keep

you may find yourself working on this 30 gallon tank, just because you have the tank, get lights, filters, pumps etc etc and then in a few months realise that none of the things you actually really like, are ideal for the tank you have

I would check out Liveaquaria.com for the list of fish for nano tanks

corals, there are many suitable species for your tank, depending on what lighting you go with
I suggest minimum 4 x T5 lamps and that would give you a lot of scope on the types of corals you can consider

a 30 gallon reef tank, with fish that are suitable for that sized tank - will look excellent
a 30 gallon FOWLR tank, with fish that would be better in larger tanks - will probably not fullfill your ambitions

First, good job researching BEFORE buying. You saved yourself a lot of number on future dead fish. There are a lot of "cool fish" that can fit in a 30 gallon... just not the ones you listed.

Overall, I'd say you are going about it correctly. Ask lots of questions, figure out what will work... adjust your plan.... BEFORE you do it.
