I picked up a beautiful scroll coral from a friend and it had some huge green button polyps on the sides of rock and a HUGE brown hairy mushroom. I have seen these ugly guys spread pretty fast and cover up rocks that you don't want covered by them.. Is there something I can shoot at it to kill just the mushroom which is now 3 mushrooms? Thanks :)

Can you be more specific on what these brown hairy mushrooms are? There are a few things it could be. I'm thinking you are referring to Aiptasia?

Thanks for the photos, nice work! I would personally try to manually remove (cut) them if you don't want them in your tank. I'm unaware of anything that eats them, and I don't know of anything that would "kill" them without harming other life in the system.

Aiptaisa would be easier to deal with! ;) Peppermint shrimp!

Maybe someone else knows something I don't...

Personally, I'm one that would pay for it. :)

Don't have any experience myself, but I have read that if you raise the rock to the surface and place an ice cube on the mushroom it will release itself. Just make sure that it doesn't leave any part of its foot attached- every little fragment will grow into a new mushroom.
