Hello all, well as you might know, i have my mind set on getting a new tank that i will transform into a sps's dream...well i am making preparations and am looking at different sands...i am liking the fiji pink and the bahamas oolite "arag-alive" http://www.carib-sea.com/pages/products/marine/substrate/aragalive.html or even the bimini pink...i really want to stick with very fine sand that wont turn green later on like how the larger grain sand like in my 55 gal tank somtimes gets...lets me know what you guys think :)

I would go with the special grade reef sand. If I could do it again, I would.
    Good luck.

i actually have a mix of sands the fiji pink, arag alive, southdown, and some dry marine sand i picked up at the local fish store all of it is very fine with regular water changes i i have not had a problem with alge forming on the sand itself. but it helps having some sand stirrers like nassariaus snails, fighting conchs they help eat all the junk out of the sand also and rotate the sand

i am really wanting to get the super fine stuff like the oolite because i have the reef sand...and after a while the big pieces form a layer on the top and they get some algae on them and turn darker and the tank doesnt "shine" as much...are there any cons to going with the super fine only?

Does anyone know the link to that new power head, it was on reef radar...its the one where it uses magnets so that half of it is in the tank, the propeller i think, and then the moter is on the outside? if u do tell me :)
