i had to fix some of my aquascapping last night due to my clown's sudden interest in digging up the sand. i wonder if he is channeling his inner goby.:-/ anyway, i know yall are gonna tell me i should have been wearing my gloves, but the last time the were used by my daughter for something else and now they are no good for the tank anymore. i keep trying to remember to get some new ones but always forget. so to get back to my point i was moving things around, and i think my tooth coral got me. i had moved him the first time nothing then shortly after i moved him back to his spot my hand started to feel alittle strange. i didn't think to much of it and went about putting everthing back in its place. i was almost done and my hand started feeling numb. this was about 10mins after that strange sensation i had after handling it the second time. by the time i was finished my hand was pins and needles like you feel when you hand goes to sleep. about 15 mins later i was feeling nauseous. i didn't eat dinner that night and wasn't back to normal until the next afternoon. i will never do that again, and have already bought new gloves. i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if i was just imagining things.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Could you have actually touched a bristle worm under the coral. I have to admit I have heard of bad reactions with regards to zoanthids, and anemone but not an LPS.

Do you have other allergies ?

Alot of people in the hobby develop strong allergic reactions to polyps, sps corals, worms, even micro-fauna in the water column. My wife really wants me to use gloves too, but so far I am lucky. One thing to watch out for, is usually with this type of reaction, they get increasingly worse with every instance so really protect yourself!!!. GL!

bristleworms are good infauna to have as long as you don't go touching them.

Its not common in the hobby but its not uncommon i would say, get my drift? I've read about probably 30 similar experiences in the lat few months.
