So I have 2 clowns in a 29 gal. I have a new, very large tank that will be ready to go soon. But I am getting the itch to add another fish to the 29 gal. Can anyone advise a fish that will live peacefuly in a 29 gal with 2 maroons or someone can smack me and tell me the 2 clowns are enough in a 29 gal. either one will be fine.

nothing really... IMO I would trade in the maroons for something more peaceful. Maroons are very agressive especially a pair of them.

Heck, they need some company...gobies, blennies or small wrasses are all good...

A bi color blenny adds great "character" to a tank...a sixline wrasse will fit in nicely also...

A fish really has to be a monster before I get rid of one. Then I go after it with a spear gun.;)

I would be afraid of the maroon's beating up other fish cause there isnt much space in a 29g.

A buddy of mine had a maroon pair in a 125g, and they took 1/3 of the tank as their territory. They should be the last fish introduced into a reef tank IMO because of that. 1/3 of a 125g is a heck of a lot bigger then 29g. They were also the smaller fish in the tank, but they ganged up on other fish.

A six line wrasse, dottybacks, pseudochromis, hawkfish if you do not plan on keeping shrimp.

I would still be scared that the maroons will kill any new fish that you put in the tank. I had a pair of cinnamons that would kill new fish in a 5 foot tank, and they are less aggressive than maroons. But you never know, dottybacks are able to hold there own, and most wrasses are tuff. Good luck
