I have a yellow and orange sun coral and a black-green sun coral. I have been target feeding them and the growth rate was well. However I recently developed a small hair algea outbreak on my yellow one. Since they are not photo-synthetic and they are under a rock ledge under MH I figured I would place them in my sump to decrease the light supply and to kill the algea!

Wow, I have had them in there for a couple weeks now and the growth is amazing. They are open all day long and new polyps are popping up left and right!

I am thinking I am going to leave them under there for a while longer to feed and then will move them to my mantis tank under lower lights!

But I think that this would be an awesome way for anybody who just purchased them to train them to open up during the day!

Ours at the shop eventually got used to me feeding during the day and now comes out more often.

Also, not sure why but there was a few times I nukes some aiptasia in that tank with Red Seas Aiptasia X and what ever is in that product makes EVERY polyp come out looking for food, the acans do it as well...

cool...will have to try that to. I used to feed during the day but now that I got a new job I am no longer working out of the house

    My acans are always out!

I think I might go ahead and bring them out of the sump for a while and see how they do ;D

Mine come out during the day. I feed my tank in the evenings between 7-8pm. They always come out around this time to feed. I target feed mine a few times a week. I might put mine in the sump because I am curious now. Would make feeding alot easier than in my 24" deep tank.
