I just got a call from our nanny that my tank power went out. After talking with her it sounds like my GFCI went bad. I replaced the standard outlet with a GFCI outlet, bad idea. In retrospect I think using plug in GFCI is a far better idea to avoid problems like mine. Fortunately I have a backup battery on my MP10. If I can't get a work around I'll head home so I'm not too worried.

According to some people GFCI's do go bad notoriously often. I have 3 spares on hand myself. My house was built in the 50's so to bring it up to code every circuit in my house has a GFCI on the first outlet in the series (no grounds running to any outlets).

To put it in perspective though, you may have to reset it every once and a while but that beats having your house burn down.

Darn Ecobak. It wasn't the GFCI -- although I stick by what I said about not switching the outlet and I agree with the Dr. I slowed down the tumble of the Ecobak and this caused a HUGE production of a very bubbly skimmate. My Aquamaxx HOB skimmer has a drain but the bubbles still dripped over the cup causing the GFCI to trip.

But to be fair I can't be sure it was from my ecobak reactor.
