    Have a continious battle with hair algae. All parameters test fine (even phosphate, though I know the hair algae could be masking that number and I am using API phos test), I use RODI water from my trusted LFS that tests 0, cut my feedings back, changed the bulbs on my lights and run an 8 hour light cycle. The only thing I can think is to use something to eliminate any phosphates I may have. I was thinking of running some GFO but have seen that some people are happy using Chemipure Elite.
    My questions are;
    1) Whould it better serve me to use GFO or Chemipure? I run a sump with a protein skimmer and have liverock in the tank.
    2) Where would I run the media reactor, before or after the skimmer?
    3) Would I just run the media continuously or just as needed?

    TYIA for any response.

    I would run continuously if you have algae. Chemipure elite is really just mix of carbon and GFO, but seems to work well. I run carbon and GFO separately though, as it allows me to adjust the ratios. Before or after the skimmer is fine.

    1) Whould it better serve me to use GFO or Chemipure? I run a sump with a protein skimmer and have liverock in the tank. Chemipure is a great product but it gets expensive I used to use it but now have a BRS gfo reactor
    2) Where would I run the media reactor, before or after the skimmer? I run mine before my skimmer never have had an issue
    3) Would I just run the media continuously or just as needed? Run gfo 24/7 and two things start off with like 1/2 of the recommended amount build up over time to much at one time will shock your tank. Rinse it very well what I do is put it in the reactor hook the pump up and use an clear container once it runs clear out of the hose you are good to go the BRS ones come with the tubing and valve you need and you can even get one with a pump I use a maxi jet 1200 on mine

    TYIA for any response.

    If you use BRS GFO you can use 1/4 or less to start as their recommendation is very high. Slowly work your way up to 1/2 their recommendation.

    Are you using half of what they say on their websight? Ive tried BRS GFO then Phosgard now I have some Phosban in the BRS reactor. So far the Phosgard cleaned it out the best. Im running the Phosban right now and I have algea growing slowly.
