    I recently bought a used TEK 5 with ATI bulbs replaced in august. Since then I have had to clean my glass every other day and now am dealing with GHA. I feed flakes, pellets, cyclopeze and mysis alternating daily. I rinse the mysis in RO/DI and use RO water for WC and top-offs. I do 10% WC weekly. My params are;
    Ca 440
    Kh 9
    Mg 1350
    NO4 20
    PO4 0.5
    ph 7.9
    Temp 79
    Sg 1.025
    I have a fuge with mangroves and cheato some LR rubble and a 4" DSB. My skimmer gives about 10 oz of dark skimmate weekly. I have about 60x flow in the DT.My sig has my equipment and livestock list. I know the nitrates and phos are high but can't seem to get them down even with the reactors and changing the media biweekly. I'm wondering what else could I do besides adding to my CUC.:confused:

    Keep up your maintenance and ride it out. You should probably run a GFO reactor is you are not already. Other than that, do bi-weekly partial water changes, along with what you are already doing, and let it run its course. There is really nothing else you can do. Take it from experience. It may last up to 3 mo. Your tank will go through several different things in it's lifetime. Just remember Mother Nature rules, you dont!!

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Microbacter7 or some type of carbon dosing. Seems like you have tried everything else. I am sure you have already considered the feeding element. Phosphates must becoming from the food or any products you are using to dose the tank. Maybe consider getting rid of the rubble. Sure seems like your mangroves and chaeto would be exporting the nitrates enough that you would not have an algae issue.

    Thanks, I was considering dosing as my params were spot on to expand into SPS. Then this GHA sprang up and side tracked me. So I'll look into Steve's vodka dosing thread and start from there. Maybe a larger CUC would also help clean up some detritus that may be hidden from view.;)

    You could try skimming wetter. 10 oz in a week doesn't sound like allot. I have to empty my cup every day or two and that's with an extremely light bio load.

    Oops my bad it should have been 40oz weekly dark skimmate. I bought two new bulbs ans scraped off as much as possible. It took a little while but I think the rowa is finally kicking in because the GHA has not spread and is finally recededing.;)
