GHA solution?

    one rock in my whole freakin tank has GHA on it! so i want to chisel off the parts that have it. is this ok? it started when i got a lionfish (which is LONG gone now) and hasnt gone away since. i think its phosphates. so cna i just chisel the parts off i dont want?

    That's not going to solve your problem. It's not the rock that's causing the algae (unless it's leaching phosphates and if it is, then the entire rock would have to be removed). Find out what's causing the algae to grow and fix the problem.

    but its just that rock. that doesnt make sense. shouldnt the rest of them be GHA covered too?

    The only problem I've ever had with gha was right after my cycle and it was just one rock. By the time I got it killed off it was looong in spots but never spread. I did my research on nuisance algaes, followed advice from forum members, figuired out where the additional nutrients were coming from, took the steps to fix the problem and have not had an issue since. Knock on wood.

    i just put 15 mangroves, a softball size ball of gracilaria, and a golf ball sized thing of chaeto in the tank, that better help.

    do you have a skimmer? thats whats been working for me also try increasing flow to that area

    yep got a skimmer and just changed my bulbs on my MH lighting.
