    wow that is interesting find what luck they had finding the species live at that too bad it died while bringing it up

    Yeah that sucks that it died :( But that's still really cool though. Plus, most giant squid only go to the surface when they are dead or dying, so pulling one up to the surface with a net from 1,500 feet down really screws with their bodily systems. I doubt we'll ever have one of these guys alive and on display in a public aquarium somewhere :D

    Cool find though. Especially in the Gulf.
