I got one of these fixtures from my friend when I bought his tank. But the problem is that the ballasts are all messed up, a couple wires burnt up and not they it doesn work. They are HQI bulbs and there USHIOS and they say 150- something, so I am preatty sure there 150 watt bulbs. I am wondering what i can get to replace the ballast, will i need to 150 watt ballasts? or would a 400 work? part of the problem is all the information on the ballast holder (i guess thats what you would call it.) is in german. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If it's a 150W Ballast and you want to still run the bulbs you will have to stick with 150. But to upgrade you could stick a 250 or 400W Ballast and then buy the matching bulbs. You would have to make sure the socket and wiring were rated for the higher watts as well

Thats were i am kinda confused, it has one ballast contianer, which has the 2 ballasts 2 of something else and 2 starter things. Then it connects to 1 wire going into the light fixture, which has 2 bulbs.
So i was wondering if someone would know if it would work if i just plug a 400 watt into it, or if it would work if i just connected 2 new 150 watt ballasts too it. or what i need to due to get it to work. I dont even see a fixture like it on there website, and i am not sure how old it is.

    thanks for your help!

If it is 150 HQI you would need a 150 HQI ballast. You would not be able to use the 250 or 400 watt HQI bulbs and ballast because the sockets are a different size and style
