Anyway, welcome. And sorry to hear about the second deployment. My husband served in Iraq and was gone a total of 14 months. He is home, safe and sound, I pray the same for you!!

I love salt water tanks!! (I only have a 12 gal and a 6 gal)

 

I wish i could start a tank with my girlfriend lol. She thinks it really cool, but wants nothing else to do with it!

 

I'm a girl too. My boyfriend has nothing to do with any of my tanks and never has. I on the other hand I have 5 tanks up and running, a 250 gallon Cichlid tank, a 75 gallon discus tank, a 30 gallon quarantine saltwater tank, a 18 gallon saltwater bio cube with a pair of clowns and full of coral frags that I have fragged myself, and a 95 gallon fish and coral tank. It does not bother me to pick up and touch my coral. I have a welding suit, complete with a face shield to wear while I cut up some of my more aggressive frags. I wear gloves while cutting my Zoathids. I am not afraid of my Xenia, Mushrooms, Toadstools, Symposium, Deresa, ect. and find no need to wear gloves with the passive coral. Some of the stoney corals can pack a hard wollop so just moving them around, I have no problem but fragging the more aggressive corals require gloves.
My Cleaner Shrimp has been with me so long that as soon as I put my hand in, he jumps on it to get his treat. All of my fish can be hand fed although I have to admit I watch my tangs very closely as I don't want to have one of their back fins slice into my skin.
Saltwater is so cool. When people come to the house, they are amazed and jump to the conclusion that it is my boyfriends hobby. If I wasn't there to keep him honest, he would take all the credit where none is due. It is all me and I am very proud of my accomplishments. ;D

Dude! all the boyfriend I have had thinks im crazy! I ask them if they want to feed the fire shrimp and they are just like ew what the heck you let that thing crawl all over you. Boys are laaaaame. Maybe I need to find a better one. But girls can definitely have this hobby!

 

really? The guys around here are more interested in trying to kill everything in the tank while their girlfriends are drowling over Nemo. haha Nemo is like a non-portable puppy. Greatest way to attract girls into your room. ;D

Lol that trick no longer works on me Mwahahha! j/k but yea nemo is cute and all but not my favorite fish! hehehe I always think the guys will dig it, but they just think im a weirdo and don't understand ANY of it when I try to explain it, I make them go go the pet stores and they are like why cant you have this fish! so I explain and they just do not get it. Also floating fish? nah just dump it in there hun im sure it will be fine! LOL
