giving up on my skimmer.

I've had this skimmer since day 1 alittle over a year ago.I've upgraded the pump from a mag3 to a mag 5.the skimmer is an aquac remora pro.its on a 55gallon tank with a 10 gallon above tank fuge. This thing worked awesome until about a month ago.a cerith snail clogged it up, I do use a prefiltersponge so go figure....popped the snail out cleaned the skimmer and removed about 100 limpets.a week later its not skimming again and its got low flow again.I suspected another snail.nope nothing wrong,no clogs pump functioning perfect.I reassembled it and bam skimming like a champ again( all I did was take it apart and reassemble).now today I come home and im back to low flow no skimming at. All.I do overfeed like crazy( I know I do and there's a method to my madness).

Im in the midst of a tank upgrade and it will only be afew weeks now untill its off and running, I think im going to ditch the skimmer and add it to my box of old toys and save myself the troubles
