I will be tearing down a 65 gallon tank in which I had freshwater Cichlids. My tank has some calcium or hardwater scaling along the water line. When I empty it out what would work best to clean this the best. Presently I just scrape and scrub it, but I really would like it to look better before I convert and start the new setup. Any suggestions? Being that the tank is large I won't be able to take it outside to rinse with garden hose.

a warm water/ vinegar combination is good for removing calcium type deposits from aquariums

allow the mixture to soak into the affected areas for a few minutes, before removing with a soft cloth (I find filter floss works OK, it even removes coralline circles and does not scratch the acrylic)

I use straight undiluted distilled white vinegar. Lay the tank on its side or back, soak a towel or rag in vinegar and let it sit on the spot for several minutes or however long it takes to remove it. Shouldn't take long with undiluted vinegar since you have not messed with the pH by diluting it, which is what does the work.

Bleach works great. When done, rinse it well and let it dry fully. As soon as it's drying the active ingredients are gone.

If you use bleach I would make sure that you rinse very well and let dry for 24 hrs. I just usually use vinegar straight and it works well.

Anyway to clean the inside glass when it's filled already? I noticed some cloudiness in my 65g glass tank.
