starphire glass, its almost as clear as acrylic and almost as scratch resistant as glass.

edit: starphire is a brand name, its low iron glass.

I have both.. Acrylic scratches.. I had a glass tank that when my daughter was young she took the cleaning magnet to it like a hammer and chipped it.. Luckily I caught her after I heard the noise in the other room..Thank god for thick glass.

Anyways it is really all in what tank strikes your fancy. Just do your research and look for the styles you like and see what they are made of. I think the most important thing is who the Manufacturer is. There are many manufacturers but not a lot of quality ones.

Lastly I am just as happy with my Red Sea Max 130D Glass as I am with my Tenecor Acrylic.

I was leaning to acrylic myself but remembering that it scratches easily as what chris adams pointed out. As for glass, I guess my only concern is that it can break easily?? or if there were a mantis shrimp in there that the possibility of him breaking it as oppossed to acrylic. Hhmmm - decisions, decisions. To sostoudt, can I purchase starphire locally or do I have to order them online and agains thanks to all for the input.
