I have seen tanks set up both ways. I am doing a reef/swim tank and need to know what is best, do I leave my glass top on or take it off.

    Thanks

for better gas exchange, you want you your top off. if any potential jumpers, you can make a DIY top.

Wasn't there just a thread asking this same ? earlier? LOL

You'll want to leave the top off because you want the maximum amount of open surface area to allow for gas exchange. Especially since you'll be doing a reef build.

Sorry to ask the same things, but I was unable to find the answer, lots of threads, so little time.

If you have fish that can jump, I would use the top. I made one out of acrylic and drilled a lot of 1/4" holes in it. That way I got air flow and a cover to prevent fish from jumping.
