Ok I currently have my local glass shop cutting me some glass today. I have a 125g tank im setting up. I drilled it this weekend and put my bulkheads in. Inow need to silicon some pieces of glass to make my overflow boxes. Im putting 1 box at each end and using the existing tank end for one panel.

Question is. The tank obvioulsy has a silicon seal along the bottom which will not allow the glass to fit flush against the end. Is it ok to notch a piece of that sislicon out the same thickness of the glass then siliconing it all back together?

Yes, I dont see why not. Just make sure you give the silicon enough time to cure. When its all said and done, dont forget to do a leak test. Good luck and dont forget the pics;D.

That corner edge needs to be ground off to a 45' Deg. to make that fit properly and I would have used acrylic and then just on the rear corners either s 2 sided box or a 3 sided if you did not use the corner position . You never want to cut or notch the existing silicone ..

I asked the glass shop about notching the glass and they said it's difficult to do. Silicone does not cure to acrylic very good. I chose glass for support, I also made the glass about 5 inches below the surface of the tank. I will then cut my acrylic on my laser with notches and glue it to the glass overflows.
