Glass Shells for Hermits????

    Yeah, I talked to the artist who makes those shells, and he said he'd give us a discount if we order over 48 shells... LOL... that's a lot of shells. He didn't say how much with the discount, so I'll find out soon.

    I'm in the process of ordering one of the glass shells, so I'll post an update of the shell soon.

    Can you imagine how cool this would be if you had a Calcinus hermit crab? I wonder if the blue (or orange) stripes go onto the parts of the crab that aren't visible.

    There's a guy @ Reef Santuary who has made them. He sent a few to a guy I know but not sure if any of his crabs have taken up residence in them.

    Nice, looking forward to seeing what they look like and if the hermits are interested.

    Two things I would ask when buying one of these are 1) Are they made out of Borosilicate (hard glass) or softglass? and 2) Have they been annealed? Boro that has been annealed will be much less likely to break.

    I hope after spending all that cash, your clear glass shells don't get covered in coraline algae. :(
