I have a glass top on my tank that sits flush down in the tank.
I have heard that having a cover is bad. There is about a 7x2 inch hole cut out for the top filter/hoses to fit through and that is about it.
    Should I remove this cover?
I have a canopy for the tank that fits snugly to the sides of the tank, so fear of something jumping out shouldnt be an issue correct? (I have a firefish, i heard they are bad for this)

If I remove it it should give me much better lighting due to it greatly hindering the lights and also give me gas exchange that I hear about.

I would remove the lid, it blocks light-upwards of 40% I have heard...it impedes gas exchange and it doesn't help at all with evaporative cooling. If you are concerned about the firefish jumping, they usually only do it in the first few weeks they are in the tank... But if you want some reassurance I have seen people use eggcrate as a lid, and even with all the holes it seems to help with jumpers....

    Happy reefing!

I've read that you shouldn't have a glass cover on, because it could hinder gas exchange. How long has the tank been up, and how stable have your parameters been?
