Kind of disappointing isn't it Matt? I always loved to hear the sound of the ocean. Why don't we just let this be our secret so nobody else has to be disappointed?

Matt are you saying you want to see a pic of my glazed shell? It's just half of a shell called a Lions Paw but I will be happy to take a pic if you'd like.  I'm not working today so I can go grab my camera.

I would hate to disappoint birdlady!

Oh! By the way, I e-mailed the contact person at the conchology site that you listed. The contact person was very nice and said he used to have a salt water set up. He gave me a couple of suggestions on things to try, but the BTA will probably still manage to get around the barrier.

Matt, Of course it's the ocean :) Don't let anyone tell you aything different :)

    Cindy,

Why don't you just put the shell in a container with some tank water, if the surface of the shell doesn't alter within a week it's probably not going to.

Hummmm!  Somehow that sounds too simple.  ::) I may give it a try, however on second thought I don't think I want to take a chance. I've worked too hard and have already had too many heartaches with this tank. Anyway, I need to go ahead and get something done about it before it kills the Devil's Hand. I bought some crazy glue which I have been told is ok and I may just glue some of those other shells together that aren't glazed. The concologist told me to go back to hobby lobby , etc, and I could probably find some that aren't glazed that are used for small plates. I may try that on my way home from work tomorrow.

    Good suggestion though-thanks!
