With the DSR approach is it cheaper than doing water changes every week? I'll have to do the math. With about 100 gallons of water(roughly) I'm wondering it would be more economical to look into the DSR method. I like the control you have with what goes into your salt and tank.

The only reason why i developed the method for my own was because:
    - I was to lazy "dancing around" with the barrels.
    - I rather used my brains, than spill my energy on waisting money down the drain.
    - i am a cheap basterd, always is search for ways to save money.

So yes... it save me time and money.
    It's a simple math.
An average mixed reef tank ~500L will consume about 250-350 euro on minerals when you don't do WC.

I have proved it can be done.
Many dutch reefers follow my lead now...

    Surprisingly....

    They are very succesfull....

I understand your approach, I've done the same, as taboo as it is. My question is, how do you know what to put next to each other? Who makes good neighbors and in other cases bed mates for a lack of a better term? How do you keep the chemical warfare down?

Your tank is gorgeous, thanks for sharing.

There are many opinions about corals positioning.
I just place my coral as the come along.
The grow like weed, so i have no fear of stinging and warfare.
In nature the do the same. Healthy coral can take a beating and sort it out by themselves.

Just call me crazy and wait for 6 months

Of course ... you don't throw away perfectly good water weekly.

The break even point is about 250 liters.
You trade labour for measurements and using your intelect.
