Hey guys! I just bought a used 50gal tank with T5 and actinic lighting. There isn't too much coral in it, so I was looking for other typed to get. When I looked at the tank under just the actinic lights, I saw that one of the corals glowed (a green one that looked like waving grass). I thought it was really neat, so I was wondering if any of you guys have had experience with corals that glow under actinic lights, and if so, what type of corals? ;D

Lots and lots, it may be easier to list the corals that don't glow, Lol.

I would start by learning what you have and how to take care of it first. That tank looks pretty full, IMO, already, Corals do grow when taken care of, so that tank is gonna be full soon.;)

I don't want to get off track here but I see one thing that will out grow your tank fast if not already the blue hippo tang in the back middle of the pic. They get really big and need lots of room to swim. Other then that great looking tank

Oh that's not my tank! I found it on Reef Central haha! This is my tank:

And most of those corals were sold before I bought the tank. There are only three corals and one frag in there now.

That green grass looking stuff will glow under actinics. It's called green star polyps. I wouldn't buy anymore of the fuzzy hard stick things into you have more experience and knowledge. They take a lot of knowledge, care and equipment to really thrive and are very unlikely to live without a bit of all three and a lot of the first one.

I'm sure you are about to be attacked for the Yellow fish as well. It's going to live a much healthier life with room to roam. They aren't recommended for and don't have a very long life span in for tanks of this size.
