Going to be gluing my plumbing together this weekend for my drain and return. Just wondering if the glue I got is the right stuff.. I notice in alot of pics that the glued joints are purple on most peoples PVC. The can of glue I got says its for PVC but it says its medium grey.. Is this ok to use? Or did I get the wrong stuff?

the purple is primer to clean the joint and the all purpose glue will work just fine.

Oh ok, I read about the primer. Do you have to use primer? I thought it was only if you are gluing in cold weather like below 50 deg's?? Or should you use primer always?

If you are using gray Schedule 80 PVC then the glue would be gray and medium body. If the PVC is white Schedule 40 then the glue should be clear and more liquid. The purple is primer to clean and prep the PVC for gluing.
Always use primer for a good connection.
