glueing a stand for skimmer - pvc cement or super glue?

I made a small stand out of some leftover acrylic for my skimmer in my sump. Should I use pvc cement or super glue?

 

well, i would use a glue made for acrylic, like weldon 16 or 4...i know pvc cement will not bond acrylic at all...superglue might work but i just cant tell ya for how long....good luck

 

If i use the super glue it wont be bad for the tank will it?

 

Weld on is about the only thing that will hold it properly. it melts the Plexi which is how it bonds anything else just sits on surface and most likely wont bond with it and can be pulled off.

 

acrylic is typically "chemically bonded" or "welded" together. were it me and this option wasnt available- I would use aquarium silicone.

 

ok you sold me on the weld on stuff. Can i get it at home depot?

 

usually, but if not, try your local glass shop- most sell acrylic, and usually have the bonding agent- but know this- once bonded- that is it- so be precise. also let dry 24 hrs. and rinse well before use.

 

if home depot is your only place to get stuff, then buy egg crate and use zip ties to make a stand, I know a lot of guys using this method.
