I got the cutting down but ive hear you have to sand the edges before glueing it. What grit should I use? What kind of glue do I use like a 2 part adhesive or is there something just for it?

Something for it, you weld acrylic not glue it. Weldon is a commonly used product for it

The solvent most often used is called weld-on (#4 or #16 depending on what you are doing), the saw will leave the edges rough and you want yo smooth them out so you you get a good seam between the two pieces. I would use a router if you have one, just be careful sanding that you do it very evenly so you don't make any gaps in the seams.

It's like doing drywall, you want the best seams possible before mudding to make the job the easiest ;). lol.

Oh cool can you pick the weld stuff up at home depot? Yeah I got routets sanders and all that. Im making a algea scrubber and what ever else I can I have a buch of acrylic from my job I did. All different sizes thick and thin black clear and frost so I figured I'd have fun with it and make some stuff I can use.

Best to finsish edges before joining; however, if the pieces do not have to be water tight and are cut with a blade designed for cutting plexi, you do not need to finish the edges, Weldon #3 or #4 work great for small projects; I use them for joining small peices frequently.

Just keep in mind that if the join requires very high strength, you will get a better join with better prepared edges...

You will NOT find IPS Weld On products at any HomeDepot or Lowes. Weld-On 3 and 4 are not to be confused with being a "glue" as they are solvents. You basically are melting the acrylic together and once the solvent agent has flashed off are left with one whole piece.
