what's better? epoxy or super glue gel? what i like more about the epoxy is that i can actually shape it around and hide the plug, but i heard it makes the water pretty messy.
did anyone use this one? Loctite Marine Epoxy, .85 Oz # 1154728 by Loctite

I use JB Waterweld, from HD, its about 3.50 a tube. and works quite well! In all honesty (learned from Reefmonkey) a dab of glue on the frag, then some epoxy and a dab of glue on the bottom of the epoxy, makes a killer hold LOL

I usually get a piece of rubble rock now instead of plugs, then I put super glue gel on the rock, then a small piece of JB Waterweld, then super glue gel again, then the SPS.

    Never a problem!

the glue gives off chemicals as its hardening... i believe ammonia and something else that causes a localized pH drop. i dont like using glue because unless you do a specific process, you will loose some tissue from the frag from these chemicals.
    same goes for epoxy too

I've used that marine epoxy extensively. No real issues. I prefer using gel super glue.

I prefer using super glue gel, the gel is important as the regular stuff is too runny. I like to use the epoxy for my rocks or larger corals, but frags, I always use cynoacralate super glue.

    superglue gel.

2 part epoxy can heat up really hot during the chemical rxn, burning the tissue on corals like LPS ones.

Never have had any problems with superglue gel and have used it for years. Dollar store sells 3 tubes for $1 and that's all you need. If you have a small cut on your finger, superglue will actually help heal it. Just use the liquid for that and don't use the gel. Same thing goes for a crack in the windshield.

Super Glue Gel > 2 part epoxy > Super Glue Gel

Never had any issues doing it this way.

Gel Super Glue for me. I make the cut then take the dremel (with a diamond wheel) and and just barely touch the frag where I made the cut and it gives a smooth flat bottom. This allows the frag to be more sturdy when mounting it.

What kind of gel superglue are you all talking about? Everytime I try to use it it sets up as soon as it hits the tank water and I can't get it to stick.
