Today I discovered a monstrous aiptasia. What is the best method of removal? I really want to save the live rock it's on, if possible.

    Thanks!! (Karma to you!)

I thought you would have been more interested in the liquid hot magma! :(
Just boil some ro water on the stove and then suck it up in a turkey baster or a siringe and toast him point blank in the oral cavity! You could also try lemon juice instead of hot water..but then you'll have to actually inject it straight into him before he is able to retract..pita!

hahaha though hot magma sounds fun, somehow I see problems arising. Okay, I will try the boiling water method tonight. How do I know it's dead? Will it shrivel up or what?

Lots of times for me they have actually released from the rock and then I just suck them up in the siring and remove them that way. If he retracts you'll prob want to blast the hole he is in a few times. Make sure not to hit coral or fish though.

Thankfully there are no coral near him, so hopefully I can just kill him "fairly" easily. Thanks for the idea!

if you can take the rock out of the water, white vingear on a q-tip and jab it a few times. rinse of that area once done before throwing back into tank. if rock wont come out of tank. then I use kalkwasser powder mixed with a little water to form a paste and inject the sucker this that. just becareful not to get it on anywhere else, ie like other corals.
