Do not run Hydors on a wave maker! They are not made for them and wont work or they will break! Hydor makes special koriallas for this purpose! Mj1200s are great for wavemakers and are very well made and wont break down easy!

The "Algae Free" mods have a stopper built in to the hood on them. They can not reverse flow. I run those on a JBJ wave maker on mine and have zero issues. The larger prop was a little noisy for me, but my tank is also in a bedroom, so you may have a different opinion. The not for wave maker is something they just must have added for some reason, not sure why. I have been running mine on my wave maker for 6 months now with no issues.

ok, team. i just got my Algae Free SureFlow maxi mod last night from Marine Depot and here's a few of my impressions

    - for $15 bucks i wasn't sure what kind of quality i was going to get but this thing is solid. thick plastic, no warping or anything. it's legit

    - it is crazy easy to put together, it took me honestly 4 seconds once i had the MJ out of the water. everything fits snugly and perfectly.

    - the flow is fierce. i don't know about "1600gph" but the flow is intense compared to my K2's. it is a broad and turbulent stream, very desirable

there is no knocking or noise at start up, it runs flawlessly. i did have a little problem with vibration, so i let it run over night and it seemed to help. this morning i replaced the Sureflow bumpers on the end of the impeller rod with the original MJ bumpers with a solid plastic core and now the unit is running totally silently.

the verdict: quality construction + crazy flow + low price = must have addition to my tank.

i'm going to go ahead with my wavemaker with 3 MJ600's with the SureFlow mod and ill sell off my Koralias. thanks for all help guys!

yes i would recommend this to a friend. lol

Good, I am glad to hear that you are happy with the mods. I really like mine too. The flow is incomparable. I just seem to be one of the unlucky ones that have problems with the polarity.....

Let us know how the wavemaker turns out!
