I have found a really nice pink spotted goby (not sure of its scientific name).
The only problem is is that I don't have a lid/covering over my tank so I am afraid he will jump out. Aren't gobies known for jumping?
If so what kind of material could I put over my aquarium that will still allow enough light to pass through and enough gas exchange?
would glass lids work or acrylic?
or would some sort of screen work better and if so what kind won't melt from the heat of the lights.

don't forget a "screen" will block your light. Window screen would block about 25-30% of your light.

what ive done meagan, is use screen door material, velcro fasteners, and custom fit the screen around the tank but not underneath the lights. no light blockage this way. made a couple different pieces

that's why I was wondering what would be the best thing to use.
I don't really want anything that is plastic because I don't want it to melt but that is the only thing I know of that has the bigger holes

what about egg crate? will it melt?

I have heard of people using eggcrates....Melting would depend on the lights and how close...If you do use crates try using a housefan between the lights and the tank top...
