very very true. we dont control the inhabitants? They have there choice of "free will" as do any of us. But we do control their enviroment, what goes in/out around. I choose to dive, but I didnt make the current light that day, I didnt make the visablity good[I am not say god controls those things, or anything for that matter. But thats not a topic for this site] Some other factor did those things. I am not saying I am god at all. What I am saying is that fact that we as reefers have much more control over these "pets" then any others. we also have more control over then tanks then alot of things in life. Its all something to think about...;D

    well said.

I look at it like the sim city game..lol, you supply the right conditions and the organisms thrive but you have know control of them directly. And think about all the microscopic things that go on everyday in our tanks that we never see? some one should make a sim reef tank game that would be cool.

Sim city, very nice. I think that is the best way to put it.
Does anyone watch Futurama? If you do, the episode where Bender is floating in space and has a whole society grow on his chest. That is what i think of every time.

There are times when, in the face of unmitigated stupid I desire the ability to smite people across the internet. Or unlimited power, mmm yes, that would be good too!;D

Well.....I never felt I was God, but as a Christian, I have come to a greater understanding of God being the "keeper" of all things. One day it came to me as I cleaned my tank and I thought, hmmm.....I am the keeper of this tank (we do say reef keeping) and I realized God is the keeper of the universe and everything there in. Quite a marvelous "revelation" if you will.

I don't feel I have a god complex in the sense that you're talking about. I do however realize that I am in control and soley responsible for the lives in my tank and that if I do not take proper care of them, they will die, and it will be my fault.
I have an entire ecosystem, an entire universe in my hands that I am responsible for caring for. Not a god complex, just the realization that if I mess up it isn't just myself that I will damage.
