O.k. You need a passport. A Veranda is preferable just for the leisure of sitting out, especially in the evenings. My wife and I have stuck with Holland America line. Very professional. Book all of your shore excursions before you board (about a week ahead) on line and check in on line to speed up the boarding and customs process. Select your dinner preference and if you want to just have you two (2 seat table) at dinner, otherwise you will be with 4 other people. If I think of more I will follow up.

ok, i'm looking at balconies and it's about $100 extra (200 for the couple) for a balcony. realistically, how much time would i spend out there, couldn't we just chill out on the deck? or would i want the balcony simply for privacy's sake?

more crucial question: where to go? should i do east, west or south Caribbean. i've heard that Nassau is cool...

Scott you could not have hit the nail any more on the head! I agree 100 percent as I have done all of the above also.

When you look at the cost of the vacation do yourself the favor and spend the 100 bucks. If not balcony then get at min a window view its that much better. Nothing worse then wanting to relax and wondering what the view is.

There are much better cruises then the one that stopes at atlantis. It was cool but there is some amazing diving in cozimel and belize that way out do the short few hr trip to atlantis. I think the experience to atlantis was awesome but scuba diving or snorkeling in belize was mind blowing and in cozimel was how do I say I think many 4 letter words spouted out of my mouth the first time I snorkled there. Its amazing when I scuba dived there the live rock blew my mind!

Yes, privacy, but just to relax and enjoy the open air and smell of the sea when you are cruising between ports of call. Come on, get the Veranda, you will not regret it! As far as where to go, get with your cruise line and request brochures on all the caribbean. I think our first one was the Half moon key, Jamaica, Grand Cayman (some of the best snorkeling and diving) and Cozumel. I really like Grand Cayman.
