Hubby's last official day of work was today. He's retiring after 20 years of being in the Army. I start working at the LFS in dry goods tomorrow morning. I'm supposed to help them fix their inventory and customer service problems. Wish me luck. Maybe I'll make enough to feed my tank addiction.

That job should come with a nice discount. It's easier to feed the habit on discounted items!!

Right on.....I wouldn't mind working at a LFS. That would be fun.

Well having owned and operated a LFS for many yrs and now until I was injured at work last Dec . Once you get involved with it as a living it soon becomes less of a hobby , fun and just another job . After 8 + hrs aday messing with corals and their tanks when you get home the last thing you really want to do is mess with a fish tank . With every passing day I am more inclined to just drain this one and toss it all in the trashcan .

I have heard that from several people...I have thought about going to a LFS to work in order to learn more on the hobby (and get the discount ;D)...but feared that also. My entire paycheck would go back to teh store and then some, and my house would be more full of species tanks then it is now!

I wonder if the owning and operating a store makes it less appealing then actually working in one PT? Dont have to put up with all the crap that goes on in the actual running of it....though I am sure that it travels down to all the employees to some degree.

Though that is a good point, whenever you change from doing something as a hobby to doing something as a job...the outlook definately changes.

Good luck at your new job and dont forget your friends on this site with your discount...;D

I just got home a few minutes ago. I worked 11 hours and I spent a lot of time cleaning fish poop! Scott thinks it's funny that I know every fish in there (I go every other day just to look around and "plan") and check to see if they're eating, etc. He said, "You'll cry everytime you sell one if you don't stop!"

I had fun but I'm tired and was glad to get home to my tanks...where the fish and corals don't go home with strangers. It will probably help a lot that I'm primarily working to have something to do.
