Did you pm evolved? He is the LED guru round here. I know after talking to him and few other sources I was recommend two 6-7" x 18-20 heatsinks. So I would imagine anything around in there should be ok.

Nope didn't even think about that.good idea..for the last hour or so I've been playing paper cut outs for comparison..I think I may go with the 5.8"x16" x2... with 24 on either side of my brace approx 8-9" off water...

    Am I too late? :)

If you PM me, I'll get an email pushed to my phone, I typically get back to PMs pretty quickly...

Anyhow, tattooedsoul's suggestion is valid; if you wish you could go wider (and order from heatsinkusa.com). Going a bit wider will allow you to space out the diodes a bit more, and allow you to hang it closer to the tank surface.

Thanks..I was going to PM you but after tattooedsouls suggestion and playing with mock ups above the tank. I felt comfortable going forward with the order..
I did order from heatsinkusa,I went with the 5.8"x17" x 2..any wider and I would get wasted light on the overflow side..I already have 12cree royal blues on a 48" rule that I was using for actinics so it already gave me an idea of height/spreed.. also I only went with the 48 ultra premium(XPG) dim kit per rapid..but with the 17" heatsink I will have room to add moons and if I need be warm whites (like you did) later on..Thanks for the help..I may need you when hooking up the pots/dim ballast..
