hi everyone, i was doing a water change on my african cichlid setup(mbuna) about four months ago when it hit me....i've been keeping fish for 20 years now! so to celebrate i decided to try my first reef tank, its a 29 gallon and i'm about three and a half months into it,added my first corals {a rock with 8 mushroom polyps on it}a few days ago,so far so good, but i'm gonna take this REAL slow....

    Congrats and welcome to 3reef!
Glad to see you make the switch from Africans to a marine reef aquarium. Their are many differences, likewise their are many similarities as well between the two tank biotopes.
You will find both of them rewarding, entertaining and enjoyable,
Best of luck and see if you can show us some pictures!

Welcome to the dark side as Luna put it. You will have much more enjoyment with sw. I kept brakish tanks for 23 yrs before I jumped the fence, so I know where you are coming from.

Welcome to 3REEF! And congrats on the switch. I think you might kick yourself about not doing it sooner, it's very rewarding. Good coral to start with also.

thank you all for the warm welcome, honestly, i probably would have scrapped the idea if it werent for sites like this,i can't believe how much there is to learn or how much things have changed{for the better} since my last sw setup in the mid eighties, after a few more months get under my belt i'll definately be posting some pics, not much going on in there just yet!
