OK, so this weekend me and my girlfriend will be going to the monterey bay aquarium for a little weekend get-away. We will be leaving saturday night and returning monday. The only problem is that the only person I have found that can take care of the tank can only come by once a day. Will I be able to safely leave the lights out for about 48 hours or so? I have green star polyps, green button zoa's, clove polyps, and a torch. Timers wont be in till after we get back.
    TIA guys

i would advise going to the local walmart and getting timers and setting you lights on timers. this will help you for the vacationa and while you are home. i have my lights running on 5 dollar timers from walmart and have no issues

48 hours with no lights will not be an issue. Have fun!

Been down that road and havent had luck. My MH's draw to much juice, and the cheap-o timers cant take it.

You have to get timers that can handle the amps that your MH's draw.Check out your local home depot or lowes( if you've got one close by).you can usually find fairly in-expensive timers there that get the job done.I did.Have fun in Monterey!

Pretty much what I did, butI found timers that WILL handle my lights for a better price over the web, so I ordered them. It's just that they wont be in by this weekend.

I wouldn't worry about it. During hurricanes or other times of inclimate weather they can have no light for days on end (cloudy or rainy days, etc.). They should be fine, I would still have your buddy stop by just to check on things though, give it a once-over daily. Enjoy your trip and don't worry!

Sorry I have no suggestions for you...but, I used to live in Fort Ord Ca..not far from Monterey and would visit the Aquarium almost every weekend with my daughter...I hope you and your girl friend enjoy it as much as we did. It is a beautiful place! Have a great mini-vacation!
